I’ve added this page to show people you don’t need a ‘professional’ digital SLR body to get great results.
Camera
My camera body is a Nikon D90 which I’ve just upgraded to after a number of years using a D50, the D50 was very good and did me proud, however it didn’t quiet have some of the features you find as standard on many digital SLR’s in the market, so with a little push from my fiance I made the jump and couldn’t be happier.

D90 Body
Lenses
I currently own 3 lenses, each has a purpose and each is very good at what it does.

The first is a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF prime lens (ie no zoom):

My new piece of equipment which replaces my old Tamron 70-300mm lens is the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S Vibration Reduction lens shown below, which is by far better than the Tamron due to the vibration reduction system which allows me to hand hold the camera and still get sharp images! :D

Lastly, I have the kit lens supplied with the Nikon D90, the 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 Vibration reduction lens, which is very good for the majority of shots you would take.
Flash
My flash is a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight flash.
Tripod
My tripod is a Manfrotto 190XProB which is a good quality, sturdy set of legs which hold my quiet heavy D90 nice and steady.

Head
The head I use is a Manfrotto 390RC2 which is a pan and tilt head allowing me to lock the movement in any of the three directions independently of the others.

Backpack
I have a Lowepro Pro Runner 300AW backpack which I’ve recently changed due to the amount of equipment I seem to be accumulating recently.

Remote Trigger
I also have a remote trigger which allows to me fire the shutter without actually touching the camera, this is great for getting the sharpest of images on the tripod as there is no need to touch the tripod when taking the image, it’s also very good if you want to try any self portraits where you can’t be in front AND behind the camera at the same time! ;-)

That’s about it, if you’d like me to go into any more detail on any of my equipment, don’t hesitate to ask!
Many Thanks
Steve Ray
